On March 17, Zhytomyr has welcomed more than 60 people who left Borodyanka and nearby villages destroyed by the Russian invaders.
This was reported by Chairman of the Zhytomyr regional state administration Vitaliy Bunechko.
"The route, which normally would have taken 1.5-2 hours, lasted for more than 10 hours through the occupied territories. Every rescued person now has their own account for the invaders. Young parents whose child shudders in their sleep and says "pop-pop-pop". A boy who is not ready to let his father go for a second, even to take things to a room where they can now take a breath. A family that saved two huskies and a small dog in a carrier, because "they are our pack, how can you leave them?!", - told Bunechko.
In Zhytomyr, evacuated citizens were provided with comfortable rooms, hot meals, and first medical care.
Today, volunteers and doctors will find out people's needs in more detail and try to provide them with everything they need.
